I’ve been fairly content with my career and personal life however there’s something I’ve always wanted to do, to achieve, to own, just for me. I want to start my own business.
I’m not sure what I want to do just yet, but I know it needs to be something I enjoy.
What do I enjoy? What skills do I possess?
And just like that my first obstacles arrived. The first questions I asked myself that brought in a pinch of self doubt and anxiety…
I’m really good at making things, maybe I’ll do that… but how will I sell them? Who will buy?
Argh… maybe I’m no good at this, maybe I should just be happy with the job I have, that’s so much easier, but I really want to own my own business.
There must be somewhere I can turn for support… I open my laptop and start googling for small businesses that utilize my skills and how they sell their products. I’m finally smiling again, excited, this feels right, this can be my future. My mind is now focused on what can go right instead of the thoughts about “what if I fail”.
I press ahead, start drafting up my business idea trying to create a business plan of sorts. The feelings of self doubt still pop up to remind me when I come across things I have no experience or knowledge of doing… but now… I’m aware of when those questions that lead to those uneasy feelings creep in, I just need to focus on finding the answers, learning the skills, seeking the advice to keep pressing forward to make my dream, my goal a reality.
I’m stuck… I’m stuck in the exciting, nerve wracking, fun yet challenging cycle of self development and discovery in order to move forward to achieve what I know I deserve.
